Thermal Oxidizer Systems for Halogenated Organics

Callidus’ Halogenated Waste Incineration Systems are capable of destruction efficiencies exceeding 99.99 percent. Depending on the destruction efficiency required, operating temperatures of 1500 to 2200° F can be used with residence times of 1.0 to 2.0 seconds. Systems can be provided with a direct quench or a boiler following the combustion process. An Acid absorber can be provided to produce a dilute or concentrated acid stream. Alternatively, a caustic scrubber can be used to remove the halogen acid produced during the combustion process. Equipment supplied includes a burner, a refractory-lined thermal oxidizer, quench system or waste heat boiler (firetube type), absorber and /or scrubber, stack, blower, pumps and control instrumentation. Because of the corrosive nature of halogen acids, care is taken to minimize the use of metals in the wet section. Similarly, care is taken to keep carbon steel surfaces in contact with the flue gas above the dew temperature by proper internal and external insulation.
